PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged July 26 with engaging in a criminal sex act.

On the night of July 24, Israel Grom, 23, visited a local residence and allegedly engaged in unwanted sexual contact with a 16-year-old, Plattsburgh City Police Lt. Scott Beebie said.

Grom did not enter the residence illegally, Beebie said.

Police received a complaint regarding the incident the next morning, he said.

Investigators and uniform officers worked together on the case, the lieutenant said.

Grom was charged with third-degree criminal sex act, a felony. forcible touching, a misdemeanor. and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

Further court action is anticipated, Beebie said.
