Oval Operation

The Olympic speed-skating oval in downtown Lake Placid is getting a much-needed facelift. Upgrades will include: a new surface with geometry to meet current competition requirements, new refrigeration piping that will be more reliable than the present piping and a new oval building and stairway plaza. ORDA’s new refrigeration plan will use less energy than an equivalent commercial system because ORDA chose to consider an industrial refrigeration plant that operates with increased efficiency.
