Mohawk basketmaker to visit Plattsburgh State Art Museum
PLATTSBURGH — Traditional Mohawk basketmaker and local NYFA Fellowship recipient Carrie Hill will visit the Plattsburgh State Art Museum on June 15 to discuss her artwork and host a weaving workshop.
This event is part of the museum’s participation in the Adirondack Coast Cultural Alliance's Museum Days programming.
Hill specializes in weaving with black ash splints and sweetgrass.
Her artist talk will start at 10:30 a.m. in classroom #224 in the Myers Fine Arts Building, SUNY Plattsburgh. The weaving workshop starts after the talk, at 11:30. Both are free and open to the public.

Find a golden ticket to see 'Willy Wonka Jr.' onstage
PLATTSBURGH — Starting June 17, customers will have a chance of finding a golden ticket inside specially marked Willy Wonka Jr. chocolate bars at a Pinch or a Pound at Champlain Centre mall that will win the purchaser a pair of tickets to the Adirondack Regional Theatre July 14 production of "Willy Wonka Jr." at Strand Center Theater.
The bars will be available at the store until July 12 or until all tickets are found.
Winners must agree to be photographed and or filmed for use in social media and other promotions of the show. A Pinch Or A Pound will donate a portion of the sale of each bar to Adirondack Regional Theatre.
Folk singer Powell coming to ADK Lakes Center
BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE — Singer, songwriter Mike Powell will make a return performance at the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 15.
Tickets are $15 for Arts Center members, $25 for non-members, and $10 for students and youth 17 and under.

“With a vintage voice and a chest full of hauntingly heartfelt songs, prolific storyteller Mike Powell is the underground messenger of blue-collar soul,” according to a press release.
Over the past 15 years, Powell has written more than 200 songs, released seven albums, and has toured the country playing shows with Martin Sexton, David Lindley, Shooter Jennings, Sarah Lee Guthrie, and many more.
Beer, wine, and other refreshments will be available. The Arts Center is located at 3446 State Route 28, Blue Mountain Lake.
Chazy Music Theatre to host annual meeting
CHAZY — The Chazy Music Theatre group will be hosting its annual meeting Wednesday, June 19 at 7 p.m. in the band room at Chazy Central Rural School, 609 Miner Farm Road.
The group will be accepting director proposals for the 2020 musical, electing board officers and wrapping up the 2019 musical.

Tahawus Center open house and painting unveiling
AUSABLE FORKS — The Tahawus Center's upcoming open house will also feature two recently donated paintings from local artist Heidi Gero.
The free event, set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 21 at 14234 Route 9N, unveil "Main Street" and "The Circus Comes to Town."
The two "town history-inspired" paintings will become a part of the permanent collection in the Windows Gallery of the Tahawus Cultural Center.
Submissions sought for Strand Summer Members Show
PLATTSBURGH — The Strand Center for the Arts has invited artist submissions for its annual Summer Members Show.

Artistry Community Theatre to hold auditions
KEESEVILLE — The Artist Community Theatre will hold auditions for its fall production of "Mothers and Sons" at 1 p.m., Sunday July 14, at the AuSable Town Hall, 111 AuSable St. in Keeseville.
