ESSEX — The Adirondack Art Association in Essex has announced that Christina Elliott will be its new director.

Elliott will be working with the Adirondack Art Association Board of Directors to finalize and market the 2016 season of events as well as organize fundraising efforts.

Elliott has years of experience in arts administration, a media release states. Most recently, she held the position of museum and gallery coordinator at the Strand Center for the Arts in Plattsburgh, where she curated more than 80 exhibits. Elliott has a formal education in art history with a master's degree in contemporary art history, theory and criticism from the San Francisco Art Institute and a bachelor's degree in art history from SUNY Plattsburgh. She is also the secretary on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit organization First Weekends in Plattsburgh.

Open seasonally from May through October, the Adirondack Art Association is a 501c3 nonprofit community organization that was founded in 1963. The Adirondack Art Association features rotating fine-art exhibitions, musical events, adult and children’s art classes, live artist demonstrations and more. Artists and crafters of every medium are encouraged to become members and exhibit in the gallery. Memberships for individuals and businesses are also available.
