ALTONA — Two Peru men were arrested in connection with the theft of a camper over seven years after it was stolen, State Police say.
A 35-foot Keystone Outback camper trailer first reported missing from a residence on Harkness Road in Peru on July 26, 2012 was recently recovered on Aug. 20, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.
Following an extensive investigation, Michael H. Smith Jr., 46, and David J. Doner, 58, were arrested on Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, respectively.
They were both charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class D felony.
Smith was arraigned in Beekmantown Town Court and released on his own recognizance and was due to appear in Altona Town Court Nov. 12.
Doner Jr. was arraigned in Peru Town Court and was also released on his own recognizance, due to appear in Altona Town Court on Dec. 3.
