SARANAC LAKE — The three-car crash that closed down Route 3 for more than an hour was apparently caused by a Tupper Lake man rear-ending another car, State Police say.

Roger Ammon, 80, was driving a 2006 Buick Rendezvous west on Route 3 just before 5 p.m. when he allegedly failed to notice Rochester woman Skylar B. Davis, 23, waiting to turn her 2011 Volkswagen into the Second Pond Boat Launch, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

Ammon’s Buick struck the back of Davis’ car, pushing it into the eastbound lane into a 2014 Toyota Tacoma driven by Keene man Daniel Woughter, 23.

Ammon was brought to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for treatment of facial injuries, Fleishman said, while his passenger, Gail A. Ammon, 78, of Long Lake, was uninjured.

Davis and her passenger, Cakri K. Denisa, 20, of Albany, and Woughter all declined medical treatment.

Ammon was ticketed for following too closely.
