FELONY ARRESTS 

MALONE — A Malone man was charged after allegedly promoting prison contraband, State Police say.

Russell Snyder Jr., 30, was visiting the Franklin County jail here Oct. 6 when correctional officers allegedly found him to be in possession of a suboxone strip, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

He was arraigned in Malone Town Court and charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and was released under supervision of probation.

MOIRA — A Moira man was charged with two felony animal abuse counts here Oct. 8, State Police say.

Austin A. Helms, 26, was arrested after two blue tick hounds were found dead, still chained to their doghouses in the back yard of a Bangor residence Helms had lived in, Fleishman said. 

He was charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and was released on appearance tickets returnable to Bangor Town Court. 

CHESTERFIELD — A Keeseville man was arrested here Oct. 8 for allegedly damaging a vehicle, State Police say.

Travis C. Rigotty, 28, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, for causing $476 in estimated damage to a victim’s car, Fleishman said.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Chesterfield Town Court on Oct. 14.

 

 

PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENTS 

AUSABLE — A Keesevillle man was found unconscious here after flipping his car in an accident, State Police say.

Larry E. Crowningshield, 24, was driving a 2016 Ford Escape west on Clintonville Road Oct. 4 when he allegedly failed to negotiate a corner, driving straight through it, Fleishman said.

The car continued off the road and over a driveway at 819 Clintonville Road before going air-born, flipping and coming to a rest on its driver side.

A witness found Crowningshield unconscious, Fleishman said, at which point he regained consciousness.

He was extricated from the car by EMS and members of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department before being brought to the University of Vermont Health Network, Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital to be treated for back pain.

The crash is still under investigation, Fleishman said.

MALONE — A Malone woman was injured in a two-car crash here Oct. 7, State Police say.

Dana M. Charette, 37, of Churubusco, was travelling west on State Route 11 in a 2018 Toyota when she allegedly failed to notice a red traffic light, Fleishman said.

Charette’s vehicle then struck a 2007 Hyundai Tucson being driven south on County Route 51 by Cheri A. Snyder, 28, of Malone, police said.

Snyder was brought to the University of Vermont Health Network, Alice Hyde Medical Center to be treated for neck pain.

 

WESTVILLE — A man was injured in a two-car crash here Oct. 8.

David C. Leonard, 53, of Westville, was stopped in a 2009 Ford Focus on State Route 37, waiting to turn left into a driveway, Fleishman said, when he was rear-ended.

Selva J. Jones, 70, was driving the 2013 Ford that allegedly rear-ended Leonard’s vehicle.

The crash caused Leonard’s Focus to exit the roadway off the northeast shoulder and strike a tree.

He was brought to Alice Hyde to be treated for neck pain.
