NORTH ELBA — A North Carolina woman was arrested after bringing illegal drugs into the Ray Brook Federal Correctional Institution here Oct. 12, State Police say.

Blanca L. Echevarria, 41, found in possession of suboxone strips with the intent to give them to an inmate at the institution, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

She was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting prison contraband, both felonies.

Echevarria was arraigned in North Elba Town Court before being remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was arrested here Oct. 14 for violating an active order of protection, State Police say.

Johnathon M. Conklin, 27, took the protected party’s cellphone from them while at the Champlain Centre Mall and left the building with it, Fleishman said.

Conklin was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony; and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Peru Town Court and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.

LEWIS — A Lewis man was arrested here on felony DWI charges after driving a lawn mower down the wrong side of the road, State Police say.

Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Glen A. Hall, 63, after they found him driving a ride-on Cub Cadet lawn mower in the wrong lane just before 4 p.m. Oct. 15, Fleishman said in a press release.

Hall was found to have a 0.17 percent blood alcohol content level, the release said, and the charge became a felony due to previous DWI convictions in the last ten years.

He was arraigned in Lewis Town Court and released under the supervision of probation.
