STRUCTURE FIRE

SARANAC — Departments responded to a structure fire at 220 Priest Rd. Monday. 

Saranac, Cadyville and Dannemora were all dispatched there shortly after noon, Clinton County Dispatch said. 

The North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted three adults affected by the blaze, according to a press release.

FELONY ARRESTS 

MALONE — A downstate woman was arrested for introducing drug contraband into Franklin Correctional Facility as a visitor, State Police say.

Troopers responded to a New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision report Nov. 23 to find Cynthia M. Warf, 36, of Bloomingburg.

Warf had been found in possession of synthetic marijuana while visiting an inmate, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

She was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, both felonies, as well as second-degree promoting prison contraband, a misdemeanor.

She was arraigned in Malone Town Court and sent to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond and is scheduled to reappear in court Nov. 27.

MALONE — A Bronx woman was charged with promoting prison contraband while visiting Franklin Correctional Facility here Nov. 23, State Police say.

Taniqua Williams, 27, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, both felonies, when she was found to be in possession of synthetic cannabis, Fleishman said.

Williams was then arraigned in Malone Town Court and remanded to Franklin County Jail in Lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.

She is scheduled to reappear there Nov. 27.

WILLSBORO — A Willsboro man was arrested Nov. 22 after entering a residence without permission, State Police say.

Chad C. Calkins, 44, was arrested after an investigation into a reported domestic dispute found that he had entered a residence without permission and stole property from within, a press release said.

He was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and was arraigned in Westport Town Court before being sent to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

 

PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENTS 

CHAZY — A two-car accident sent a Mooers man to the hospital with a head injury, State Police say.

Dean J. Nephew, 40, of West Chazy, was driving a 2016 Honda Accord south on State Route 22 Nov. 15 when he veered into the northbound lane, Fleishman said, striking a 2003 Ford F350 being driven by Bethann M. Caston-Buskey, 55, of Mooers.

Caston-Buskey was uninjured, Fleishman added, but her passenger, Dennis W. Buskey, 63, also of Mooers, was brought to the University of Vermont Health Network, Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh to be treated for a head injury.

Nephew was also uninjured in the crash.
