HARRIETSTOWN — A Saranac Lake man was arrested here after causing more than $1,500 is damage to a victim’s vehicle, State Police say.
Christopher J. Fust, 38, threw items at the victim’s Ford F-150 XLT on Jan. 7, Fleishman said, denting the driver side and breaking the gas cap.
He was arrested Jan. 11 and charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and arraigned in Harrietstown Town Court before being released on his own recognizance to return there Feb. 10.
An order of protection was also issued, protecting the victim from Fust, Fleishman said.
MALONE — A Yonkers woman was charged here Jan. 11 after bringing synthetic marijuana into the Bare Hill Correctional Facility, State Police say.
Tanisha R. Hill, 19, was found in possession of approximately 19 grams of synthetic marijuana, Fleishman said.
Hill was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting prison contraband, both felonies and was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Malone Town Court on Jan. 30.
MALONE — A Malone man received several charges following a break-in here Jan. 15, according to a Malone Village Police press release.
Byron J. Dibble, 38, smashed in a door of a neighboring apartment, the release said, entered the apartment, knocked the resident's phone out of his hand while he attempted to call for help, threatened him with a crow bar and refused to let him leave.
He was arraigned in Malone Town Court and released, the release said.
PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENTS
BANGOR — A two-car accident left two injured here Jan. 6, State Police say.
Melinda A. Stevens, 55, of Chateaugay, was driving west on U.S. Route 11 in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier when she crossed the center line into the eastbound lane, Fleishman said.
The vehicle then struck a 2015 Ford Explorer being driven by Kevin J. Warner, 47, of Malone.
One of Stevens’ passengers, Vicky Davis, 56, of Burke, was brought to the University of Vermont Health Network’s Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone to be treated for head pain. Warner’s passenger, Sarah E. Warner, 15, of Malone, was brought to Alice Hyde to be treated for leg pain.
ELLENBURG — A ten-year-old was injured in a one-car crash after the driver lost control in a turn, State Police say.
Alexander M. Preve, 17, of Lyon Mountain, was driving a 2010 Kia north on State Route 374 when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a curve, Fleishman said.
The vehicle then exited the roadway and struck an earth embankment before rolling over.
Passenger Olivia G. Preve, 10, was brought to Alice Hyde to be treated for abrasions to her face, Fleishman said.
PERU — A Peru woman was brought to the hospital after hitting a deer with her car here Nov. 7, State Police say.
Tammy L. Rock, 49, was driving north on State Route 9 when the deer entered the roadway, Fleishman said, before Rock’s 2014 Kia struck it with the front bumper.
Rock was brought to CVPH to be treated for chest and shoulder pain.
BOMBAY — A two-car crash left one passenger injured here Jan. 9 after a tire detached from one of the vehicles, State Police say.
Dawson L. Ghostlaw, 19, of Bombay, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra south on State Route 95 when the driver’s side front tire broke off at the hub, Fleishman said.
The tire then struck a 2019 Dodge Caravan being driven in the northbound lane by Megan J. Hunter, 37, of Massena.
Neither driver was injured, but Hunter’s passenger, Abigail Hunter, 12, was brought to Alice Hyde to be treated for minor leg injuries, Fleishman said.
FORT COVINGTON — A one-car crash left two injured here Jan. 9.
Earl A. Martin, 28, of Tupper Lake, was driving a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander north on State Route 37 when the vehicle crossed the center line, struck a cinder block wall on the east shoulder and continued back onto the roadway before exiting the west shoulder, hitting a mailbox in the process, Fleishman said.
Martin initially denied treatment at the accident before later being treated for leg injuries at Alice Hyde, Fleishman added, while his passenger, Michelle C. Manley, 46, of Saranac Lake, was brought there to be treated for facial injuries.
PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh woman was hospitalized after crashing a car into a guardrail here Jan. 10, State Police say.
Heather M. Archila was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus on Irish Settlement Road when she traveled past the stop sign at the intersection with State Route 22 and drove directly into the guardrail on the eastern shoulder of Route 22, Fleishman said.
Archila was brought to CVPH to be treated for neck pain.
MALONE — A one-car crash left a Malone teen injured here Jan. 11, State Police say.
Riley J. Hillenbrand, 17, was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix north on Webster Street Road when she failed to negotiate a curve, Fleishman said, and the vehicle exited the roadway and struck a ditch.
Hillenbrand was brought to Alice Hyde to be treated for head pain.
