BOMBAY — A Bombay man was arrested here Dec. 30 for a UTV theft he committed last April, State Police say.
On April 6, 2019, troopers responded to the theft of a utility terrain vehicle at 342 State Route 122 in Westville, Fleishman said.
The 2016 CanAm Defender 800cc UTV was stolen from under a lean-to at the address and appeared to travel west on State Route 122 after exiting the victim’s driveway, Fleishman added.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service later located the stolen vehicle in Akwesasne, Quebec, missing its tires and rims.
The caller who reported the vehicle in Quebec identified the person they saw operating it and on July 22, Westville Town Court issued an arrest warrant for James R. Johnson, 28, Fleishman said.
On Dec. 30, 2019, State Police arrested Johnson on the warrant, charging him with third-degree grand larceny.
He was arraigned in Malone Town Court and released on his own recognizance to appear in Constable Town Court on Jan. 15, Fleishman said.
PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENTS
ALTONA — A Morrisonville woman was injured after she attempted to dodge an animal in the roadway here Dec. 29, State Police say.
Candace M. Osbourn II, 37, was driving a 1998 Toyota Corolla east on Devil’s Den Road when she said the animal entered the roadway in front of her, Fleishman said, causing her to brake hard, slide into a ditch, become airborne and come to rest in the opposite lane facing west.
Osbourn was first brought to the University of Vermont Health Network, Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh before later being brought to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt., to be treated for a non-life-threatening neck fracture.
