PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man is accused of attempting to steal medication and jewelry from a motel room.

Corey D. Burke, 26, allegedly “entered a room occupied by individuals at the Maken Motel, in the Town of Plattsburgh,” at approximately 11:30 p.m., Thursday, according to a Clinton County Sheriff's Office press release.

The occupants were sleeping at the time, the release said, but awoke to find Burke allegedly attempting to take medication and jewelry from the room.

Burke then allegedly fled the room but was later identified and taken into custody.

Burke was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and arraigned in the Town of Beekmantown, on behalf of the Town of Plattsburgh.

He was remanded to Clinton County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

Burke is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Plattsburgh Court on July 16 at 4 p.m.
