ADIRONDACK ART ASSOCIATION

CLINTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE 

Institute for Advanced Manufacturing Summer Academy: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 22 to 26, Clinton Community College, 136 Clinton Point Drive, Plattsburgh. Will showcase the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing at Clinton, and students will gain hands-on experience using equipment housed in the building. Instructors will include CCC faculty members and other local experts, sharing their industry knowledge on equipment stations around the facility. Companies sponsoring and participating in the Academy include Upstone Materials, Bombardier Transportation, Swarovski Lighting, Plattco and Mold-Rite Plastics. Registration $30, deadline of July 1. Cannabis Health Consultations and Practitioner Info Session: 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., July 27, Plattsburgh Public Library, 19 Oak St., Plattsburgh. Join Curaleaf at the Plattsburgh Public Library to learn about medical cannabis. State certified medical practitioners will be on-site to provide free health consultations. Instant medical marijuana cards are available for patients who qualify. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover cannabis as medicine, learn how to become a New York Medical Marijuana Program patient or caregiver and complete patient or caregiver registration with the New York Department of Health. Certification costs will be discounted. Cash only. Patients please bring documentation of qualifying diagnosis.

 

 

LAKE PLACID CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Figure Drawing: Thursdays 1:30 to 4 p.m., July 18, 25; Aug. 1, 8; 17 Algonquin Drive, Lake Placid. Intermediate to advanced artists working in any medium will have the opportunity to work with a live model posed within an arranged setting with props reminiscent of turn-of-the-century artists such as Klimt, Mucha and Vuillard. One pose will be held during each class to allow artists the time to create a complete piece or multiple pieces at the end of the four weeks. NORTH COUNTRY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

"Wheel Throwing: Bowls and Pottery with Lids": 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesdays from July 24 to Aug. 14. For more advanced students. Will teach new tips and techniques for making bowls and lidded pottery. $125. 

Both classes will take place in the Pottery Studio of the Saranac Lake campus, 23 Santanoni Ave., Saranac Lake.

Intro to Social/Club Rhythm Ballroom Dances: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., July 16, 18, 23, 25, 30; Aug. 1, Room 301, River Street Hall, Saranac Lake. Will focus on rhythm style dances including Merengue, Salsa/Mambo, Cha Cha, Rumba, and Swing. Dance frame, dance styling, music identification and how to perform each dance at a club will all be covered. $10 per person, per class. Can register for all class sessions or single classes.
