YMCA launches survey

PLATTSBURGH — The city has endorsed a Plattsburgh YMCA survey that will assess the needs of Clinton County residents.

Plattsburgh/Malone YMCA CEO Justin Inhe said the results of the nonprofit's online questionnaire, or Community Needs Assessment, will be used when determining which programs it will implement.

"As part of the YMCA's ongoing strategic objectives, we want to meet the needs of the community in the best way possible," Inhe said in a recent City of Plattsburgh news release. "This information will help the YMCA align its resources and provide our area with great wellness programs, quality youth development activities and indoor/outdoor opportunities.

"We are happy to have the support of the City of Plattsburgh, and many local entities, with help gathering information."

Mayor Colin Read said the survey responses will help to design and position services in line with the community's collective needs.

"It does not make sense for the city to not collaborate in recreation services with a YMCA complex barely a mile from our City Gym, and a CVPH Wellness Center a mile and a half away," he said. "I applaud the willingness of the various non-profits to collaborate with the city in potential public/private partnerships.

"This survey has been in the works for some time based on the strategic planning process for the YMCA. I am grateful that they can lend their expertise at this time as we all figure out how to survey and provide the necessary recreation services in collaboration rather than in competition."

The assessment will be active until early November and can be accessed at https://yusa.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_80M6Ot7t4wO3zQF.
