Honeybee Fund awards local grants

WESTPORT -- The Honeybee Community Fund awarded grants to a number of local people, businesses and organizations during its spring funding cycle.

The grants went to: Joy's Walking Gardens for advertising; Ted Taylor's Tree Care, establishment of a nursery; Robert Coolidge, vegetable garden wildlife control; RSVP, volunteer recruitment; Tricia Hart Family Daycare, Little Peaks Preschool Scholarship Program, Sheri Amsel's Exploring Nature Educational Resource field trips; Adirondack Art Association of Essex, gallery lighting; Champlain Valley Film Society, summer series; Westport Library Association, purchase a DVD player for an archives project; Crane Mountain Valley Horse Rescue, paddock fencing; STOP Domestic Violence/Behavioral Health Services North, provisions; and the Rachel Carson in the Adirondacks Centennial Celebration project.

The Honeybee Community Fund offers spring and fall rounds of grants of up to $1,500 to assist Essex County small businesses, farmers, non-profits, environmental projects, the arts and scholarships.
