Peru to discuss zoning/code post

PERU — The Town of Peru Town Council will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Town Hall.

The purpose is to discuss board actions to fill the zoning/code officer position.

The session is open to the public.

March 18 deadline set for tree sale

WESTPORT — The Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District has released its 2011 tree and shrub order form.

The district provides plants and seedlings for sale for conservation purposes, such as wildlife habitat, windbreaks, erosion control, stream buffers and wetlands enhancement.

New to the program this year will be blueberry, cranberry, plum, Nanking cherry and Canadian hemlock. Also available are currant, American beech, scotch pine, firs, spruces, native sugar maple and black cherry.

There will also be groundcover, wildflower seed, planting supplies, fertilizer tablets and marking flags.

Orders should be placed by March 18, with trees distributed April 22.

Candidates sought for Willsboro

WILLSBORO — The Willsboro Republican Committee is soliciting candidates to interview for the position of town supervisor, two town-councilperson seats, town clerk and highway superintendent for the fall election cycle.

Interviews will be held at the Willsboro Visitor Center at 6 p.m. March 21.
