Peasleeville Road Project almost done

PERU — A project to replace a cross culvert on Peasleeville Road, about 900 feet west of the intersection with Denton Road, is substantially complete.

According to the Clinton County Highway Department, the roadway was re-opened to traffic on Monday, Aug. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

Final paving and site restoration will be done in mid-week.

Delays may be encountered.

 

More Hydrant Flushing

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh will continue with its fire-hydrant flushing program today.

Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., hydrants will be flushed for about three to five minutes.

Water in the system may become stirred up and appear cloudy or rust-colored coming out of the faucet.

Residents should avoid washing clothing or bathing during these times.

Hydrants will be flushed today on Main Mill, Wall, Plant, South Peru and South Catherine Streets, Sara Court, Kim Court, and Sharron Avenue and Tyrell Avenue.

 

Jay Bid Opening 

JAY — The Town of Jay Town Board will be conducting a special board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 15th at 6 p.m. at the Town of Jay Community Center at 11 School Lane in AuSable Forks.

The meeting will be to open bids for a new pick-up truck for the Highway Department, and any other business to come before the board.

The meeting is open to the public.

 

NAC School Board to meet

ELLENBURG — The Northern Adirondack Central School District Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19 in the district office conference room.

An executive session will be held first, and the board will re-convene for the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Some of the items on the agenda include tax warrants and personnel appointments.

The meeting is open to the public.

 

 

Readying For Move-in Day on campus

PLATTSBURGH — On Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24, traffic on Rugar Street will be shifted to one-way traffic going west from Parking Lot 16, the lot across from the Angell College Center, to Sanborn Avenue, to allow for students to move into the residence halls for the start of the fall 2019 semester.

Traffic along Rugar Street from Broad Street to Lot 16 will remain open to two-way traffic.

Signs will be placed around campus directing students to their residence halls. A variable message board will be placed at the intersection of Rugar and Broad streets on Monday, Aug. 19 to reflect the upcoming move-in days.

 

More Foster Parents needed

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Department of Social Services is seeking more people willing to become foster parents.

With the need for more foster parents continuing to grow, the county will be holding orientation and informational sessions for those interested.

A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Social Services building at 13 Durkee St.

Anyone is welcome and there is no commitment.

Training for prospective foster/adoptive and respite parents is scheduled to start on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
