Plank Road Closed 

ELLENBURG — A portion of the Plank Road in the Town of Ellenburg will be closed on Monday, Aug. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to perform culvert replacement and associated drainage improvements, weather permitting.

Work will be conducted 200 feet north of Box 1587 Plank Rd., between Smith Road and Route 190.

Motorists are urged to be alert to construction signage and use alternate routes as designated during this period.

Every effort will be made to expedite the work and re-open the road at the earliest possible time, according to the Clinton County Highway Department.



AUSABLE FORKS — The Right Reverend William H. Love, Ninth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany, will ordain to the Sacred Order of Priests in Christ's One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church the Reverend Patricia Johnson, currently the Deacon Vicar at St. James Episcopal Church in Au Sable Forks.

The ordination will take place 1 p .m. today at St. James Episcopal Church in Au Sable Forks, NY.

The Celebrant will be the Right Reverend William H. Love and the preacher will be the Most Reverend Justin Badi Arama, Arch Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and the Diocesan Bishop of Juba, South Sudan. Also attending will be the Reverend Joseph Bilal, Project Director of the Episcopal University of South Sudan.


Placid School Board to meet 

LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid Central School’s Board of Education regular board meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The meeting will be held at the Administrative Services Center, 50 Cummings Rd. in Lake Placid.

The meeting is open to the public.


Ti School Board to meet

TICONDEROGA — The Board of Education of the Ticonderoga Central School District will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. at the High School Cafeteria, 5 Calkins Place in Ticonderoga.


Beekmantown School Board to meet

BEEKMANTOWN — The Board of Education of the Beekmantown Central School District will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6:15 p.m. in the Middle School/High School Library.

Agenda items include presentations on capital project update, appointments, CV-TEC criteria, K-12 comprehensive school counseling program, confirm tax roll and authorize tax levy.

AVCS Board to meet

CLINTONVILLE — The Au Sable Valley Central School Board of Education meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Middle-High School Auditorium in Clintonville.

The board meeting will begin with presentations followed by an executive session.

The regular session will immediately follow the executive session. The board will consider the following: Special education recommendations, approval of tax warrant, and personnel issues.

The meeting is open to the public.


Saranac Lake School Board to meet 

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Central School District Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the bus garage.

The meeting is open to the public.


Campground to close 

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Notch Campground and Day Use area will close on Sept. 4 to install a new well and water system.

Early closure of the campground will also provide for additional time to complete additional repairs and maintenance work before the onset of winter.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation said it will keep the nearby Meadowbrook Campground and Day Use area open until Columbus Day to maintain camping and picnicking opportunities for those who come to the area to enjoy the autumn foliage.

Campers with reservations to the Wilmington Notch Campground between Sept. 3 and Oct. 14 are being notified through ReserveAmerica of the planned cIosure.

These reservations will be canceled and fees refunded. These campers will be informed of the opportunity to reserve a campsite at the Meadowbrook Campground or any of the other nearby DEC campgrounds.


Dannemora Future Meeting 

DANNEMORA — The Town of Dannemora will hold an interactive public open house and visioning workshop to solicit community ideas for its Economic Development Strategy on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, located at 78 Higby Rd.

The open house will provide an overview of the planning process and provide the public with an opportunity to provide input and share their vision for long-term economic growth opportunities.

Residents, business owners, property owners, visitors and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend.

The planning process is being guided by a Project Advisory of community representatives. Project consultants, led by Melissa McManus and supported by M.J. Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C., will facilitate the open house.

The Economic Development Strategy will create an action plan for the community to pursue opportunities in areas such as tourism, natural resource utilization, and recreation.
