PLATTSBURGH — A Friday windstorm left thousands in the North Country without power this past weekend.
High winds and rainfall caused havoc Friday, with Essex County declaring a State of Emergency Friday morning, with 57 road closures county-wide that day, according to a county press release.
A New York State Electric and Gas press release Sunday stated that 95 percent of outages had been restored, with over 191,000 customers losing power state-wide due to the storm.
There were no outages listed in Essex, Franklin or Clinton counties on NYSEG’s online outage tracker as of Monday night.
The North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross also reported Sunday that it had assisted a Ticonderoga family of five after their Burgoyne Road home flooded.
The Sunday Red Cross press release added that Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help all of those affected by the flooding in the coming days.
