SARANAC LAKE – North Country Community College’s Licensed Practical Nursing program is the best in upstate New York, according to a nursing and healthcare education website.
NursingProcess.org ranked NCCC’s LPN program number six out of 74 programs in New York that are approved by the state Board for Nursing. The top five on the list are located in the New York City/Long Island Region.
The website’s 2019-2020 Best LPN Programs in New York rankings are based on each program’s academic quality and affordability, first-time pass rates and other factors.
The college was commended for a “well balanced” curriculum that “prepares students to face nursing challenges efficiently.” It noted that students who complete the one-year LPN program can go on to complete training as a registered nurse at the college.
“With its firm-rooted belief in maintaining clarity and responsibility in the educational process, the college strives to nurture the academic goals of its students,” reads the website.
“Our Practical Nursing program has been part of the fabric of North Country Community College for over 50 years and continues to be of incredible value and importance to our students and communities,” NCCC President Joe Keegan said.
“It is always gratifying to have others recognize the good work that you are doing and this recognition provides one more opportunity to celebrate the good work of our faculty, staff, students and community partners which help make our Practical Nursing program, like all of our programs, as successful as it is.”
“We are excited to receive this recognition for our practical nursing program,” said Sandra Ellis Gothard, director of the college’s School of Nursing.
“What a wonderful achievement for our students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Our mission continues to educate nurses who will leave the college prepared to deliver holistic, patient-centered nursing care and positively impact health care through quality nursing practice.”
