MALONE — Two Rouses Point people were charged with drug possession after a traffic stop Wednesday night.
According to State Police, about 9:15 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Route 11 in the town of Malone on a 2012 Dodge Avenger for failure to signal a lane change.
The operator, George P. Coupal, 55, and the passenger, Samantha L. Coupal, 31, both of Rouses Point, were subsequently arrested after they were found in possession of over one-half ounce of cocaine, and more than 16 ounces of marijuana, police said.
Both defendants were charged with one count each of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, both felonies.
They were arraigned at the Town of Malone Court, and both were remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, or $20,000 bond.
