PLATTSBURGH — Clinton County will have a familiar face in the county clerk’s office for four more years.

John Zurlo Sr., 80, won his seventh term in the seat, running unopposed.

“I’m pleased to be able to go back for another turn,” Zurlo said. “I’m very impressed by the fact that people on the other side of the aisle have enough confidence in me that I didn’t have an opponent. That shows a little respect, and that maybe they think I’m doing a good job.”

The Clinton County Board of Elections’ unofficial results listed 9,856 votes for Zurlo with all 51 voting districts reporting, as well as 38 write-in votes.

Zurlo cited unfinished business as his main reason for running again, with the clerk’s office still putting the finishing touches on an electronic filing system that would allow attorneys to file legal documents online.

He added that Clinton County would become one of only 20 or so counties in the state with that service once it’s offered.

“We’re very competitive with what’s going on,” Zurlo said.
