Army Pfc. Robert J. Light, son of Janelle Light of Morrisonville, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He graduated in 2008 from Saranac Central High School.
Maj. Gen. Patrick A. Murphy, the adjutant general, has announced the following re-enlistment of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their continuing commitment to serve community, state and nation as part of the Army National Guard: Sgt. Derrick Venne of Cadyville, with the 206th Military Police Company; Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Zimmerman of Saranac Lake, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry; Staff Sgt. Benjaman Katzman of Ellenburg Depot, Company B, 2-108th Infantry; Spec. Michael Graham of Plattsburgh, Company A, 2-108th Infantry; Sgt. 1st Class William Tavernia of Champlain, Company B, 2-108th Infantry; Spec. John Postiglione of Keeseville, Company A, 2-108th Infantry; Spec. David Robinson of Morrisonville, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry; Sgt. Michael Trask of Saranac, Company A, 2-108th Infantry; Spec. Andrew Konstantinidis of Saranac Lake, Company A, 2-108th Infantry; and Spec. James Liska of Saranac Lake, Company B, 2-108th Infantry.
Lt. Col. Mike Davey, U.S. Army, was promoted March 1 to the rank of colonel at Leray Mansion on Fort Drum. Davey is the deputy commanding officer of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), stationed at Fort Drum. He is the son of Mary S. Davey of Peru, and George R. Davey of Plattsburgh. Col. Davey is a 1982 graduate of Peru Central High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. He was commissioned into active duty as an infantry officer and has held multiple leadership positions, platoon through bridge level, in Germany, Korea, Hawaii, Fort Drum and Iraq. He is awaiting a future assignment scheduled for this summer.
Air Force Airman Justin C. Thorpe graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Mechelle Thorpe of Plattsburgh. Thorpe graduated in 2004 from Beekmantown High School, Plattsburgh.
Air Force Airman Donald A. Lord III graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Lord earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Donald Lord Jr. of Saranac and Sheila Lord. The airman graduated in 2006 from Saranac High School and received an associate degree in 2008 from Clinton Community College, Plattsburgh.
Army National Guard Pvt. Jennifer A. Harris has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Richard and Deborah Barney of Constable. Harris graduated in 2001 from Franklin Academy High School, Malone.
Army Pfc. Axton I. Parker has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Parker is the son of Jean Tibbles of Redwood and brother of Samantha Parker of Plattsburgh.
