PLATTSBURGH -- A high-risk sex offender was jailed earlier this week after he allegedly moved from a local hotel without notifying officials.

Lee A. Goodrow, 26, who also goes by the name Danny Martin, had been living in the Beacon Hill Motel on Route 9, but allegedly moved and failed to update his sex-offender registry, as required by law.

Clinton County Sheriff's Department deputies found the Level 3 offender Tuesday and arrested him on a felony charge of failing to register.

He was arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court and was sent to Clinton County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond, which he had not posted as of Wednesday morning.

The Plattsburgh man was convicted of first-degree sex abuse in 2003 for raping a 39-year-old woman in the City of Plattsburgh. That happened shortly after he was paroled from prison on a felony stolen-property conviction.

According to the Sex-Offender Registry, Goodrow overpowered, threatened and sexually abused the woman, whom he did not know.

Goodrow served several years in prison for the rape and was recently paroled.

He is due back in court later this month to face the charge of not reporting his change of address.
