WESTPORT — The Elizabethtown-Lewis and Westport central school boards are seeking four residents from each school district to serve on the Merger Study Advisory Committee.
Members must be committed to attending monthly meetings from this August to April 2018.
Committee meeting dates are: Aug. 23, Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Dec. 6, Jan. 24, Feb. 28 and April 25, with the location alternating between ELCS and Westport. Specific times and locations will be announced soon.
Last November, two school boards voted unanimously to launch a merger consolidation study.
They hired the Castallo & Silky Associates of Syracuse to conduct the study, which will begin in August and conclude with a final report in April 2018.
The study will cost $44,000, which will be shared equally by the two districts.
Already, the two schools share Scott Osborne as their joint superintendent and also a special-education administrator.
Voters weighing in on the 2017-18 budget and school board candidates will also decide Tuesday whether the districts will share a school psychologist.

Those interested in being considered as ELCS representatives on the Merger Committee are asked to submit a letter of interest by Thursday, June 1, to: Scott Osborne, superintendent, Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School District, P.O. Box 158, Elizabethtown NY 12932.
Westport applicants are asked to do the same, sending letters to Osborne at Westport Central School District, 25 Sisco St., Westport, NY 12993.
The Elizabethtown-Lewis School Board will officially appoint its Merger Committee members at its Tuesday, June 13, meeting. Those chosen by the Westport School Board will be officially appointed at the session set for Thursday, June 8.
