CHATEAUGAY — Several departments responded to a barn fire at 1742 Co. Route 23 here.

The Chateaugay Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to that address at 2:29 p.m. Monday with mutual aid coming from departments in Burke, Constable, Malone, Moira, Westville, Churubusco, Ellenburg Depot, Ellenburg Center and Hinchinbrooke, Quebec.

Lyon Mountain stood by at Chateaugay’s station.

Co. Route 23 was closed at the intersection with Route 11 shortly after the start of the blaze.

The property is owned by Francis Helm, according to the Franklin County Real Property Office.

Its property class was listed as livestock in the office’s database.
