A Florida boy who was in critical condition after a swimming accident last week has died.

Robert Hamer III was taken off life support over the weekend at Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington.

While swimming with his father on Thursday, the 12-year-old was caught in a rock formation in the Ausable River in Keene, where he was pulled underwater, according to New York State Police.

Dr. Elizabeth A. Bundock, pathologist at Fletcher Allen Health Care, has determined the death is accidental and the cause to be drowning, State Police said Monday.
