PLATTSBURGH — Clinton County Legislator Simon Conroy will be facing additional charges in the City of Plattsburgh.
City Police Chief Levi Ritter said Friday that Conroy (D-Area 4, Town of Plattsburgh) will be facing a charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
Conroy was arrested on Friday, Sept. 6 for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
He was arrested following a disturbance downtown that started on Upper Bridge Street and ended up on the steps of City Hall.
Ritter said that Conroy was allegedly found to be in possession of cocaine and the criminal possession charge will be added.
After his arrest last week, Conroy was taken to University of Vermont Healthcare Network Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital for treatment, but an update on his condition was not available.
Ritter said Conroy will be arraigned at a later date.
