PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh City firefighter was charged with attempted assault early Friday morning.

At 12:33 a.m., Plattsburgh City Police received a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute at a North Catherine Street residence, City Police Chief Levi Ritter told the Press-Republican.

When officers investigated the call, they arrested Andrew R. Favro, 26, of Plattsburgh and charged him with third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor.

Favro was held for arraignment before City Court Judge Mark Rogers, who released him on his own recognizance.

Ritter did not release the age or sex of the alleged victim in order to protect that person who, he added, was not taken to the hospital.

The chief does not expect additional charges will come from the arrest.

Favro is due to reappear in court before Rogers at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, a court official said.

City Fire Chief Scott Lawliss confirmed that Favro is a firefighter, but could not comment further.

"It’s a personnel issue. It will be dealt with accordingly."
