Busy B's to meet Thursday

BEEKMANTOWN -- The Busy B's of Beekmantown will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Beekmantown Town Hall. The annual rummage sale, which will be held on June 7 at the same location, will be set up. Also, the trip to Amish country in Pennsylvania will be planned. Call Helen for details at 563-6975.

Give-away winners announced

PORT HENRY -- The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Essex County has announced the winners for the 2008 Memorial Day Give-Away: June Jaquish of Addison, Vt., won first prize ($100); second prize, also $100, went to Mildred Michener of Ticonderoga; Laurie Bruce of Schroon Lake won $75, as did Albert Simard, also of Ticonderoga; Kristina Ferguson of Ticonderoga, Rose Sheffield, of AuSable Forks, and Nancy Carr of Port Henry each won $50. Charlene Drimiller of Ticonderoga won a painting, while top seller Lillian Lang of Crown Point took away $25, and second top seller Jean Clifford of Keene Valley was awarded $15. Profits of the give-away will be used to defray volunteer expenses.

Meadowbrook seeks volunteers

PLATTSBURGH -- Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh will be holding an open house for prospective new volunteers on Thursday, June 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Staff will conduct tours of the facility and show the variety of ways volunteers can help out. For information, call 563-5440.
