Tiki Torch Zumbathon at City Beach Friday

PLATTSBURGH — Local Zumba instructors Ashley Cousens and Autumn Love will host a unique “Tiki Torch Zumbathon” fundraiser June 29 at Plattsburgh City Beach.

The Take Pride in Plattsburgh event begins at 6 p.m. with Zumbatomic, Zumba for ages 5 through 12, led by Lesley Ramos; followed by the Zumbathon for all ages at 7:30 p.m.

The Zumbathon will be held right on the beach, with tiki torches lining the perimeter. Participants are encouraged to dance in their bare feet or sneakers.

Admission is $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The rain date for the event is June 30. All proceeds will benefit the Max Moore Memorial Treehouse, which is slated to be built on the Saranac River Trail and will be universally accessible.

A bonfire is planned and food will be available. The event will also feature the grand opening of the Cabana Beach Bar. A percentage of these proceeds will go to the treehouse project.

Parkinson’s support group meets Thursday

PLATTSBURGH — The next Parkinson’s support group meeting is 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Pine Harbour Senior Living on Route 9 South.

Social time is from 5:30 to 6 p.m., with the program to follow.

The group will not meet during July or August; September will be the next get-together.

Attendees are asked to bring photos and stories of their travels for the wall map.

Radiologic Tech students to graduate

PLATTSBURGH — The CVPH Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology will hold its graduation ceremonies at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the hospital.

Twelve students will receive diplomas. Dr. William Pace, interventional radiologist, will be the guest speaker.

Mobile Dental Clinic to hold appointments

The Adirondack Medical Center Mobile Dental Clinic will be traveling to communities around the area in the months of July and August.

The “clinic on wheels” aims to serve residents of outlying communities, where limited resources and travel are obstacles for receiving timely dental care. The vehicle is fully registered, licensed and insured in New York state and is certified to provide dental care by the state Department of Health. Most insurances are accepted, including Medicaid. Self-pay patients are also welcome. Care will be provided on a shared basis by AMC’s two dentists through October.
