Interfaith Lenten services resume Friday

PLATTSBURGH -- The Interfaith Council of Plattsburgh and Clinton County is again hosting its annual Friday Lenten services at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church on Beekman Street in Plattsburgh. The service itself starts at noon each Friday and is led by a different clergy-person each week. The 30-minute service is followed by a soup-and-sandwich luncheon hosted by the United Methodist Women, with all proceeds going to the Interfaith Food Shelf.

This Friday, the service will be led by Sister Miriam Najimy of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary; the Rev. Marion Moore-Colgan of the United Methodist Church will lead the service on Feb. 29. March 6 is World Day of Prayer, and a special service from the Church Women United, an international organization that sponsors this event, will be led by the Rev. Stan Sears of the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship. The final service in the series will be held March 13, led by the Rev. Paul Heller of the First Presbyterian Church.

Services are held in the chapel on the north side of the United Methodist Church building, and the entire community is invited to join in. The cost of the soup-and-sandwich luncheon is $5 per person.
