DICKINSON CENTER - Joyce Mitchell, the prison seamstress who helped two murderers escape from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora in 2015, was seen here with her husband, Lyle Mitchell, in their hometown of Dickinson Center Saturday afternoon.
Joyce was released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility last Thursday after serving four and a half years of her maximum seven-year sentence for aiding inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat.
She returned to her Franklin County home and must abide by state parole rules.
According to information from Department of Corrections representative Rachel Conners, Joyce "will be supervised in Franklin County. Per her sentence, the supervision will be completed on June 8, 2022."
