Vacation Bible School scheduled for Peru
PERU — Peru Community Church and St. Augustine’s Catholic Church invite children ages 4 years to 6th grade to “Son Spark Labs: Discovering God's Plan For You, ” a summer bible event 9 a.m. to noon today at the the Son Spark Labs Peru Community Church Fellowship Center, 13 Elm Street, Peru.
Kids will participate in crafts, science, story time, worship music and recreation focusing on a daily Bible verse.

Vacation Bible Camp Day planned
Point Au Roche — The Plattsburgh First Presbyterian Church with assistance from the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church, is holding a unique format and venue for their one-day Vacation Bible Camp, “Our Planet Our GARDEN” on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 12:30 – 5 p.m. at Point Au Roche State Park Nature Center.
The day features scripture readings as it relates to caring for our Planet, while embracing the science of human impact on our environment, including footprints on the habitat of our animal friends. Point Au Roche’s Naturalist Kristin Collins, will be on hand to provide information on climate change. There will be guided hikes, a scavenger hunt, crafts and games.
Afterwards the participants, their families, and members of the congregations are welcome to join in for a Potluck Picnic at the park’s Beach Pavilion.
The camp is open to grades K-5. Younger children are welcome however must be accompanied by an adult. Participating children will be entered into a free drawing for two Great Escape Tickets.

Tent Revival scheduled
PLATTSBURGH — The Peru Church of God is once again hosting Evangelist G.W. Carroll in an old-fashion tent revival in the Skyway Plaza in Plattsburgh Aug. 4-17 nightly (except Saturdays) at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.
Ice Bucket Challenge to benefit 'Our Whole Lives'
PLATTSBURGH — On Saturday, Aug. 3, an “Ice Bucket Challenge” will be held at 46 Gravelly Point Dr., on Cumberland Head. It is an opportunity to have fun by the lake while raising money for the Our Whole Lives program at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh. This comprehensive lifespan sexuality curriculum dismantles stereotypes, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem while fostering healthy relationships and good decision making. UU Congregations to meet at Mecham Lake
MALONE — On Aug. 4 at 10 a.m., an “HUUtenanny” will be held at Mecham Lake Campground, 119 State Camp Road, Malone. Unitarian Universalists from Saranac Lake, Canton and Plattsburgh will come together for a worship service, potluck and fun playing games, swimming and boating. Attendees are invited to bring a dish to share, place settings and lawn chairs or blankets. For those unable to make the trip, an alternate service will be held at the church at 4 Palmer St. in Plattsburgh.
UU to host 'Search for Meaning' reading
PLATTSBURGH — “Search for Meaning,” an informal reading and discussion group, will meet Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh, 4 Palmer St. Attendees engage in a search for truth and meaning and encourage each other toward spiritual growth.
