ESSEX — The body of a local restaurateur was found in Lake Champlain at the Essex Marina on Monday morning.
Raymond Faville, 60, had been last seen Sunday evening, State Police Troop B Bureau of Criminal Investigation Capt. Robert LaFountain said.
Dock workers spotted his body in about 10 feet of water shortly after 10 a.m., Essex County Coroner Frank Whitelaw said.
A State Police Underwater Recovery Team retrieved it at 1 p.m., he said.
Whitelaw couldn't say whether Faville had drowned; the cause of death was pending an autopsy scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake.
The State Police investigation was continuing, LaFountain said.
Faville, of Rutland, Vt., owned Chez Lin & Ray's restaurant, located adjacent to the Essex Shipyard.
"He resided on a boat at the marina with his wife (Linda) during the summer months," LaFountain said.
The restaurant's Facebook page describes them both as chefs at the eatery.
