Bounce for the Gold

Participants test their mettle in the “Booty Bounce” section of a four-stage course during the inaugural Hunger Games event at the US Oval on June 8, which also featured local craft beer, food trucks and live music.

Twenty-one teams comprised of four athletes apiece competed for the top overall time in the course, which also featured “Zorb Central,” where individuals had to run in giant, inflatable clear orbs; “Surf City,” where athletes had to don goggles, flippers and a rubber ducky flotation device around their waist before racing to the next area and “Archery Boot Camp” that required each person to fire toy arrows at a target before skipping around a post with a pool noodle before completing each section again in reverse.

Hosted by the City of Plattsburgh, the event focused on raising awareness about hunger in the North Country along with funds and nonperishable food items to be donated to local charities.

Slated for June 6 and 7 at the US Oval, the second-annual Hunger Games will feature a much larger obstacle course and more.
