DANNEMORA €" Mrs. Margaret E. "Peg" Smith, 82, of Smith Street, Dannemora, passed away Saturday May 5, 2007 at her home with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Dannemora on Feb. 17, 1925 the daughter of Walter S. and Adelaide (Connelly) Curran. Peg was a graduate of Dannemora High School Class of 1942 and the Champlain Valley High School of Nursing Class of 1945. She was a Registered Nurse and at the time of her retirement in 1985 she was the Director of Nursing at CVPH Medical Center. She was well respected by her peers in the nursing profession and will be missed by all who knew her. Peg was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old movies and gardening. She was a member of the Past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Mother Admirable #592, Champlain Valley School of Nursing Alumni Association and St. Joseph's Church Dannemora.

Peg was predeaceased by her parents, Walter S. and Adelaide Curran, a sister Lillian Hungrige of Highland Park, N.J. and a brother John Curran of Glens Falls.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Robert V. Smith of Dannemora, one daughter, Karen S. Kunz of Dannemora, three sons, Robert J. Smith of Champlain, Michael J. Smith and his wife, Patti, of Fairfax, Vt., Richard S. Smith and his wife Thérèse of Ticonderoga, a sister, Anne Curran Anderson of Edison, N.J., four grandchildren; Jessica Lynn Smith of South Portland, Maine, Alsion Louise Smith of Durham, N.H., Sean Patrick Smith of Ticonderoga, Aubrey Colette Smith of Ticonderoga, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday May 7, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Dannemora.

Internment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
