PLATTSBURGH €" Mrs. Joyce T. Papineau, 84, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, N.Y. She was born in Tupper Lake, N.Y., on Sept. 18, 1922, the daughter of Philip and Olidat (Patry) Trudell.

Joyce was an executive secretary for over 25 years and retired in 1990 as executive secretary at the Student Association at SUNY Plattsburgh. She was a member of the first Board of Directors for Beartown Ski Area and enjoyed skiing and hiking. Joyce was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Treadwells Mills, where she served as lector and Eucharistic minister.

She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Olidat Trudell; her husband, Everon "Pap" Papineau; a sister, Edna Papineau; a brother, Albert Trudell; and a son-in-law, John Allen.

Joyce is survived by a son, Paul Papineau of Wilmington; two daughters, Anne Hawley and her husband Richard of Underhill, Vt., Nancy Allen of Plattsburgh; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Papineau of Keene; her sisters, Evelyn Cassello of Albany, N.Y., Therese Trudell of Tupper Lake, Rita Wolber and her husband William of New Hartford, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Nathan and Katherine Hawley, Hilary and Megan Papineau and Paul Allen; one great-grandson, Luke Hawley; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Treadwells Mills.

Following cremation, interment will be at St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Plattsburgh College Foundation to the Joyce Papineau Endowment Fund.
