PLATTSBURGH €" John L. Lawliss Sr., 58, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 4, 1949, the son of Charles and Rita (Lawliss) Cook.

Mr. Lawliss was a truck driver most of his life and worked for several local trucking firms, retiring due to illness.

He was a lead guitarist and sung with many bands in the area. John loved music.

Survivors include his companion, Judith Baker of Plattsburgh; two sons, John L. Lawliss Jr. of Plattsburgh and Michael and Kate Lawliss of Peru; one daughter, Rachael Baker of Plattsburgh; one stepdaughter, Nichole Cota of West Chazy; one brother, Dennis Cook of Plattsburgh; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister, Beverly Smith.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
