PHOENIX, Ariz. €" Harriet Sweet Pompa, 79, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Sunday, April 1, 2007.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Gerald and Margaret (Kennedy) Sweet.

Harriet graduated from Champlain Central School and attended Dean Junior College in Franklin, Mass., where she studied fashion design and illustration. After working for Ayerst in Rouses Point, N.Y., for a few years, she moved to New York City, where she majored in advertising design and illustration at the New York Phoenix School of Design. An accomplished watercolorist, she was a member of the Watertown Art League and the Torrington Art Association in Connecticut. Mrs. Pompa's art was featured in a number of solo shows and annual juried art exhibits of the TAA.

Harriet returned for many years to the family home on Lake Champlain, where she loved to fish with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael; and leaves four sons, Michael, Marc, William and Stephen; three granddaughters, Dana, Jacqueline, and Lee Ann; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Sweet of Loveland, Colo., and Margaret Dodds of Williamstown, Mass.

A memorial service was held in Wethersfield, Conn., on April 13.
