ORANGEBURG, N.Y. €" George Louis Parnell of Orangeburg, N.Y., passed away on Friday, April 27, 2007. He was 71 years old.

George was born in Standish, N.Y., on June 23, 1935, to George and Evelyn Parnell. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

George was employed by the Nyack Public School System for 21 years where he worked in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1984. He resided in New City prior to relocating in Orangeburg, where he has lived for the past five years.

He is predeceased by his brother, Charles Lobdell.

George is survived by his wife Doris of Orangeburg, N.Y.; a daughter, Tami and her husband Robert Kolessar of Congers, N.Y.; a son, George Jr. and his wife Kerry of Utah; two brothers, Robert Lobdell of Fort Myers, Fla., and Philip Parnell of Vermontville, N.Y.; four sisters, Shirley Rasco of Cadyville, N.Y., Irene Budwick of Peru, N.Y., Florence Keese of Vermontville, N.Y., and Lula Bornstein of Stony Point, N.Y.; as well as seven grandchildren, Angela, Justin, Elycia, Jack, Robert, Andrew and Anthony.

Visiting hours were held on Monday, April 30, at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc., in Nyack. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, May 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Nyack. Burial followed at the Rockland County Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead, N.Y.
