Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cataldo of 5611 Hillside Drive, Lowville, celebrated their 50th anniversary June 25, 2010.
Edward Cataldo, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John H. Cataldo, Lyons Falls, and Mary Lou Lanigan of Elizabethtown, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius J. Lanigan, were married June 25, 1960, in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Elizabethtown, with the Rev. William Coffey officiating. Honor attendants were Betty Ann Denton, twin sister of the bride, and Charles Cataldo, brother of the bridegroom.
Edward Cataldo attended Manlius Military School and St. Lawrence University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. and Mrs. Cataldo owned and operated Cataldo Hardware, Inc., for many years. A member of the American Legion and the Lowville Elks Lodge, Edward enjoys gardening and playing trumpet in the Lowville Village Band and Lowville Jazz Band.
Mary Lou Cataldo is a graduate of Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School and Plattsburgh Business Institute. A member of the St. Peter's Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Monday Morning Knitters, Mary Lou enjoys knitting and crocheting.
Mr. and Mrs. Cataldo are communicants of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lowville.
They have three children: John E. Cortland; Patricia L. and husband, Ed Chehovin, of Fairfax, Va.; and Thomas J. and wife, Benita, of Adams. They have four grandchildren: Angela and Brendan Cataldo of Adams, Matthew Chehovin of Fairfax, and Joseph Cataldo of Cortland.
