'Marley & Me' author to headline museum fundraiser
BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE — The Adirondack Museum will host guest author John Grogan at its "Dog Days of Summer" event on Aug. 4.
Grogan will headline the annual event with a public program called "Marley & Me: What Man's Best Friend Can Teach Us About Being Human." A question and answer session and book signing will follow. Visitors and their dogs are welcome.
Guests will have a chance to meet and greet author of the best-selling book "Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog" as part of two exclusive fundraisers for the museum. A $75 per person luncheon at The Hedges starts at 11:45 a.m. In addition, a cocktail reception, which costs $40 per person, with Grogan will be held at 5 p.m. under the museum's Marion River Carry Pavilion.

Spring book sale planned at Peru library over weekend
PERU — The Friends of the Peru Free Library is holding a spring book sale from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 4; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the library on Main Street.

Lake Placid Book Club meets Monday
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Institute Book Club has chosen "The Private Lives of the Impressionists" by Sue Roe for its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday.
Everyone, whether they have read the book or not, is invited to attend.
The group gathers at the Lake Placid Public Library at 7 p.m. on the last Monday of each month.
May's book is "Frederick Remington: the Color of Light" by Nancy Anderson.
