THUNDERBAY, Ontario €" Mr. Arnold Young, formerly of 4 Lakeside Court, Cliff Haven, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, in Thunderbay, Ontario, at the Thunderbay Community Hospice Home. He was born June 27, 1931, in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland.

Arnold worked his entire life for the Georgia Pacific Corporation. He transferred from Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, to Plattsburgh in 1968. Later on in his career, he worked for G.P. in Brazil and then Ontario, Canada.

In the late 1960s and 1970s, he was extensively involved with the Cliff Haven Homeowners Association and was instrumental in building Cliff Haven's hockey rink and in bringing youth hockey to Cliff Haven.

Arnold Young was also an avid hunter and fisherman. While living in Plattsburgh, he took several hunting trips with co-workers to Newfoundland. Arnold also owned Young's Grocery & Bait & Tackle in Beekmantown in the mid-1970s.

Arnold was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his former wife, Shirley M. Young of Cliff Haven; his daughter, Annette R. Ormsby and son-in-law, Craig Ormsby of Schuyler Falls; and son Wilfred Young and his companion Cathy Duprey of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by grandsons Evan Ormsby of Schuyler Falls, Jacob and Dennis Young of Orlando, Fla., and grandson and granddaughter Shawn and Heather Young of Morrisonville.

Arnold was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara M. Young; and son, Alan B. Young.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, Plattsburgh.
