AuSable Forks man gets jail time

ELIZABETHTOWN — An AuSable Forks man was sentenced to prison time in connection with a break-in at Feek Pharmacy in Jay.

On Nov. 1, 2012, Scott L. Dolaway, 35, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted burglary, according a press release from the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

The crime occurred May 22, 2011.

Dolaway was sentenced Jan. 10 by Judge Richard B. Meyer to one and one-third to four years in state prison, with a Center for Substance Abuse Treatment recommendation.

He was also ordered to pay restitution, a crime victims fee, a $300 surcharge and a DNA sample fee.


On May 22, 2011, State Police arrived at Feek Pharmacy shortly before midnight to find an intoxicated Dolaway inside with a flashlight, wearing a mask like the one used in the movie “Scream,” Ray Brook-based State Police told the Press-Republican a few days after the incident.

Police said Dolaway had used a crowbar to break in and was found in possession of various pill bottles and a pocketful of cash.

He cooperated fully with authorities that night.

He told police he had ingested some of the drugs.

Dolaway was taken by ambulance to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh; he was treated then released.

He was arrested at about 11 a.m. May 23, 2012, and charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and possession of burglary tools, a misdemeanor.


In a separate incident, Feeks Pharmacy was burglarized in the early morning hours of Aug. 17, 2012.

Oxycodone, oxycontin, Adderall and fentanyl patches were stolen from the pharmacy, according to Ray Brook-based State Police.

Justin H. Hicks, 25, of Keeseville was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony; second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of controlled substance, a felony; and unlawfully growing cannabis, a misdemeanor.

Also charged with felony burglary in connection with the incident were Brian J. Blaise, 22, of Peru and Sara K. Hebert, 23, of Chesterfield.
