Logo sought for Ticonderoga Natural Foods Co-op

---- — TICONDEROGA — It has a name; now the Ticonderoga Natural Foods Co-op needs a logo for the store expected to open next year.

The Natural Foods Co-op has announced a contest to design a logo for the enterprise.

It needs a “creative, innovative and professional logo design,” PRIDE of Ticonderoga Executive Director Sharon Reynolds said by email.

“The winner will get a $100 gift certificate to the co-op and bragging rights.”

Reynolds has been working with a Co-op Steering Committee for the last two years, trying to start such an undertaking in Ticonderoga.

The closest fresh-foods co-op now is in Middlebury, Vt., about a 40-minute drive from Ticonderoga.

“We’re going to create and support a community-owned co-op that believes in the importance of healthy living, sustainability and offering locally produced products,” she said.

“We are committed to providing high-quality goods and services at affordable prices through member participation and employment opportunities.”

The logo must adhere to those principles, she said.

Reynolds said it must be eye-catching, legible in color or black and white, and must be created by the contestant.

Submissions should be emailed to committee member Eric Stoddard at, and the subject line should be “Logo Submission.” The file must be in PDF or EPS format with 300 dpi or higher resolution.

The deadline to submit a logo is Jan. 15, 2014.

The community voted on several suggestions for the co-op’s new name on line to help with that decision; the logo winner will be selected by the Co-op Steering Committee after the deadline, Reynolds said.

Reynolds said the winner must turn over rights to the logo to the co-op, and it will be used on the store’s signs, co-op website, shopping bags, labels, newsletters, ads and T-shirts.
