Joseph L. Chance

October 17, 1930 - June 1, 2014

PEASLEEVILLE — Joseph L. Chance, formerly of Peasleeville, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Adkins, Ark., the son of Jasper and Addie Belle (Williams) Chance.

He served in the United States Army from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954.

Joseph married the love of his life, Arrita House, July 1, 1955, in Arcadia, Calif. They moved their family to Peasleeville in 1974 and owned and operated C & H Grocery in Peasleeville for 15 years until retiring in the late 80s.

Joseph was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, and son. He was loved and will be missed by all

who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Arrita Chance of Plattsburgh; children, Pat Hubbard of Plattsburgh, James Hubbard of Connecticut, June Chance of Plattsburgh, and Jolie Laundry and her companion of 20 years Mike Cook of Peru; grandchildren, Holly, Anthony, Cory and Janessa, John and Sam, and Chad; one great-grandson, Carson, who is due in July; and many nieces and nephews who loved and adored him.

At Joseph's request there will be no public calling hours or services.

In lieu of donations, flowers may be sent to his wife, Arrita Chance, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.
