Kaifetz to be honored with Woodmen award

CHAMPLAIN — Woodmen of the World Chapter 462 will honor North Country Honor Flight originator and Director Danny Kaifetz with this year’s Community Leadership Award.

He will receive the plaque at the 40th-annual Chapter 462 awards ceremony and banquet scheduled for Friday, May 2, at the Rainbow Wedding and Banquet Hall in Altona.

The regional Honor Flight chapter sent 80 local World War II veterans, free of charge, on five flights to Washington, D.C., for first-time visits to see their National Memorial in 2013.

This year, they hope to send a total 160 vets on 10 flights, with the first set for Saturday, May 17.
