MORRISONVILLE — Mr. Robert J. Lutz, 62, of Morrisonville, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at his home. Rob was born in Bay Shore, Long Island, on May 5, 1950, the son of Herbert and Geraldine (Albin) Lutz.
He grew up in Patchogue, Long Island (N.Y.) and graduated from Suffolk Community College, Stony Brook University, and Plattsburgh State University with a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Guidance and Counseling. He remained in the area after graduation and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance. After a number of years, he established his own financial planning business, RJ Lutz Associates. He continued his studies in financial planning and was a Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant, as well as a Notary Public. He served on the school board of St. John's Elementary School for several years and was a member of various associations related to his profession.
He is survived by his wife, Simone (Pelzman), and two daughters, Katherine Bezio and her husband Kenneth, of Plattsburgh, and Alison Lutz of Plattsburgh, his mother, Geraldine Lutz of Patchogue, N.Y., older sister, Cheryl Pressgrove of Clearwater, Fla., and younger brothers Bryan and Michael Lutz, of Patchogue, N.Y., numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, and cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Katherine Albin, father, Herbert Lutz, brother-in-law, William Pressgrove, and other close aunts and uncles.
Rob retired in Dec., 2010, after a rewarding career as a financial planner. He was a man of integrity who held his clients in the highest regard. His greatest joy and his fondest memories were of the years he spent as a ferry captain for the Davis Park Ferry Company on the south shore of Long Island. He loved piloting his boat, the Bayberry Mist, from Patchogue to Watch Hill on Fire Island. It was his dream to run ferries during the summer when he retired. He was also a craftsman who enjoyed building model planes and submarines, many from the World War II era. Any task he undertook was completed with precision and quality.
