“It was a tough battle,” Chazy coach Ray Guay said. “We played hard but came up short.”
The Eagles (15-1-1) took a 4-3 lead into the third period, but Taylor Marcellus tied the game 9:04 into the final frame and then assisted on Troiano’s goal at 9:40.
Canton goalie Elizabeth Burke turned away 35 shots to record the win.
Emily Raville had two goals in the first period to give Beekmantown a 2-1 lead, and then she assisted on Amanda Peterson’s goal 5:06 into the second. Canton tied it with two straight goals, and then Raville got another for a hat trick and a 4-3 lead.
Peterson finished with three assists for the Eagles. Alyssa Pelkey made two saves, and Kayleigh Bell replaced her midway through the game and had 13 stops.
“Canton was skating very well,” Guay said. “They had a few players that really could handle the puck. And they took advantage of their chances.
“We had a large number of shots and just failed to capitalize when we needed to.”
